Thank you very much for your kind invitation to judge at this show and to the exhibitors who took the time to enter. It was a very hot day for our breed and some exhibits were feeling the heat more than others and this reflected in their movement and placings. However without exception the temperaments on all of the Danes being shown was extremely good despite the hot weather and this reflected well on their owners, handlers and breeders and also on the breed in general. All of the Danes shown had correct scissor bites.
MINOR PUPPY DOG (3/1)
1--Mirando's PHIL COLLINS UNIVERSE an 8 month old dark red puppy dog with a black mask. Very mature for his age with a strong masculine head and good depth of muzzle, good eyes and a very well developed front assembly with a good depth of chest. Very well off for bone and a short coupled dog puppy with a good rear end for his age and lovely dark nails. Well handled by his owner and she moved him at just the right pace.
2--Macrae's ZEFARTHER COME TOGETHER. a 6 month old paler fawn dog puppy. Unlucky to meet the first place winner as giving away alot of maturity as he is less well developed at the moment. More elegant in outline with more length of foreface and a very kind expression and good ear carriage which he used to his advantage. He also has good bone and has very good rear angulation and tight cat like feet. He moved well with his owner and just needs the time to develop and mature.
PUPPY DOG (5/1).
1--Chappell's SELMALDA KOOCHIE RYDER an 11 month old fawn dog puppy with a black mask. He has a good length of foreface with good ear carriage giving his head a quizzical expression and a soft expression with his brown eyes.Overall an aristocratic expression and good depth of muzzle. His forechest is extremely well developed for a young puppy with a good depth and breadth to it. His neck flows into really well laid shoulders with a good length of upper arm. Good topline with well sprung ribs and tail set and strong pasterns with tight cat like feet.Well muscled hindquarters and very well handled. A nice puppy.
2--Price's LEAMAP CHIVAS REGAL a 10 month old Blue with plenty of bone and substance. A strong masculine head with brown eyes giving him a kind expression A short coupled dog puppy that still needs to develop and drop in chest but when he moves the extension is there. He has good pasterns and tight feet with a powerful rear end which was used effectively on the move as he drove from the hocks. Well handled.
3--Middleton's LEIRUMDANE MEA FORTUNA FOR DORNOIR a Harlequin puppy dog that was 11 months old today. A well marked dog with a well shaped head, plenty of lip, good ear carriage giving that quizzical expression and lovely brown eyes. His well shaped neck flows into a good front assembly but he still needs to develop in forechest. An elegant but powerful dog that has plenty of bone and substance and he moved well as he has a good rear end but not with the same enthusiasm as the blue.
JUNIOR DOG (4/2)
1--Thurlby's DEVARRO STRIPE IT LUCKY AT JUSTINIAN a really good coloured golden brindle dog. Very pleasing expression on his head and well sprung ribs with good rear angulation. Well muscled and well handled.
2-- Woodfine's SIR DUKE EIVETS REDNOW AT JILDADANES. A Blue dog of a good colour, short coupled who still needs to mature on both front and rear but lovely dark nails. He lacked enthusiasm on the move as feeling the heat.
MAIDEN DOG (2/0)
1--Pepper's LEAMAP BLACK SABBATH WITH SARAWEN a 10 month old Black puppy dog with a strong masculine head, good ear carriage and dark brown eyes giving him a really kind expression. He has a powerful neck which flows into his shoulders and a strong forechest. Plenty of bone and substance with this boy, short coupled and with a powerful body for his age and a really good rear end. His bone is nice and straight with good pasterns. He still needs to mature in places but when he moved he extended and drove from the hocks and showed that blend of power and elegance that is so attractive in the breed. Absolutely loved the way he went around the ring and pleased to give him RESERVE BEST DOG and BEST PUPPY IN SHOW. Well deserved. Note with interest that he is the litter brother of my 2nd in puppy.
2--Page's HENRY COOPER a 6 month old Blue dog puppy which was unlucky to meet the 1st place winner. However a strong masculine head on this boy with a very alert expression as using his ears really well. Very good bone for a 6 month old but at the moment still growing into himself and just needs time to mature.Well named.
NOVICE DOG(5/2)
1--Middleton's LEIRUMDANE MEA FORTUNA FOR DORNOIR. I gave this harlequin puppy 3rd in puppy dog. Lovely make and shape and a very elegant but powerful dog deceptively so. This time he moved with more enthusiasm and I note with interest that he is the son of my veteran dog winner.Similar make and shape.
2--Mirando's PHIL COLLINS UNIVERS I gave this fawn puppy dog 1st in minor puppy dog. The same remarks apply as he is really well developed for his age but the 1st place winner just moved out better. However he is a really nice puppy dog.
3--Macrae's ZEFARTHER COME TOGETHER I gave this fawn puppy 2nd in minor puppy dog. Good make and shape as stated previously but giving too much away in terms of maturity. However his time will come and well handled.
POST GRADUATE DOG(5/1)
1--Gifford's HIGHESTEEM LOCHSONG AT DANETIME. A Dark Brindle dog with a good head, dark eyes, good ear carriage and that extra length of foreface giving him a very aristocratic look. Good clean outline and his neck flows into a good front assembly with correct lay of shoulder and a natural topline. He has plenty of bone and good tight feet and although big there is no coarseness as he is very elegant and well balanced. This dog has a stunning croup and a powerful rear end with very good rear angulation. He still needs to power up and strengthen up at the front and rear but everything is there in the right proportion and just needs time. He gave his handler a bit of a hard time on the move as he is full of character which is so typical of the breed but was lovely to see.Pleased to award him BEST DOG but he just lost out on the challenge for BIS due to a lack of maturity.
2--Wright's DORNOIR BUCHIS FOR LEIRUMDANE. A Harlequin dog really well marked that has a good head with correct ear carriage and a clean flowing neck into a correct front assembly with a good lay of shoulder. Very deceptive for bone as so well balanced that he looks smaller than he is. Lovely elegant outline with a natural topline and the purest white background. The bone is straight, correct pasterns and tight cat like feet. Well angulated at the rear with a good croup and tailset. He moved well with his owner.
3--Lawson and Hunter's DROOLAKISS MANSON. A beautiful golden brindle dog with a black mask on a stong masculine head. Powerful neck flows into his body with a well developed forechest. He has plenty of bone and substance without being coarse and good tight feet. He is well angulated at the rear and moved well with his owner.
LIMIT DOG(2/0)
1--Pepper and Price's BARON OF SKYE VIA LEAMAP. A substantial Blue dog with a strong masculine head dark eyes and a good drop of lip. He has a well developed forechest with good straight bone, correct pastern's and correct rear angulation. When he moved he powered around the ring and really drove from the hocks. Well handled.
2--Chappell and Dyson's SAMDICE GET READY JW. Stunning dog to look at Fawn with a black mask with correct head planes, good ear carriage and a soft expression. Very good forechest with a good amount of bone but as he is built correctly and well balanced he appears to be more compact than he is. A good topline and well angulated with heavily muscled quarters and a good second thigh. He reminds me of Tartan Special. Just lost out on 1st place as not as enthusiastic on the move.
SPECIAL VETERAN DOG(4/0)
I must confess always my favourite class at a breed show.Just wish I had 1st place rosettes for all of the veteran's.
1--Battersby and William's INTERNOS ARIZONA. A 6 year old Harlequin Dog very well put together with bone, substance and an elegant outline. Nothing overdone or coarse. Good head with correct ear carriage and brown eyes giving him a soft expression. His neck flows into a beautiful front assembly with correct lay of shoulder and a natural topline. Good croup and a correct tailset. He has correct pasterns, hocks and tight feet. I seriously considered him for RBD but loved the power and enthusiasm of the youngster.
2--Battersby's INTERNOS THE HEAVYWEIGHT. A 6 year old Blue dog with a stronger head than my 1st place. . He has a kind expression and a clean neck that flowed into well laid shoulders with correct bone and a pleasing outline with good rear angulation which he used effectively on the move. Not quite the same sense of balance as my first place but a very nice dog.
3--Toohey's CH JAYDANIA SUN TAN. A 6 and a half year old fawn dog with a black mask. Good head with dark eyes and correct ear carriage giving him a soft expression.Clean neck into a very mature well bodied Dane. Strong bone with good cat like feet and a natural topline. Very good rear angulation on this substantial boy but he was feeling the heat on the day.
SPECIAL OPEN HARLEQUIN DOG(2/1)
1--Battersby and Williams INTERNOS ARIZONA. This was my previous winner from the Veteran Dog class and the same remarks apply. A correctly constructed Great Dane whose outline flows as he is so well put together. Well deserved.
SPECIAL OPEN BLUE DOG(5/1)
1--Pepper and Price's BARON OF SKYE VIA LEAMAP JW. This was the winner of Limit dog and the same remarks apply. A substantial and mature dog who stands and moves correctly.
2--Battersby's INTERNOS THE HEAVYWEIGHT. This was my 2nd placed dog in the special veteran dog class. Same remarks apply. Lovely dog to go over he was just unlucky to meet the first placed dog.
3-- Price's LEAMAP CHIVAS REGAL. This was my 2nd place in puppy dog and the same remarks apply. Lovely puppy to go over but just unlucky to meet these two mature adult Blue's. However he has youth on his side and one to watch and I note that he is the litter brother of my RBD. It must have been a very typey litter.
SPECIAL OPEN BLACK DOG(4/2)
1--Pepper's LEAMAP BLACK SABBATH WITH SARAWEN. This was my previous winner from Maiden dog and the same remarks apply. Lovely dog to go over and extremely mature for a 10 month old puppy. Loved the amount of power that he had in his rear end and which he used to his advantage when he moves.
2-- Bate's DANEMOOR BLACK PRINCE. A very elegant well constructed Black dog with a strong but elegant head with good length of foreface, correct ear carriage and a clean flowing neck into a well constructed front assembly, with a mature body and good rear angulation. However I just preferred the rear movement of my first place winner.
SPECIAL OPEN FAWN DOG(1/0)
1--Ingram's DAINMAJIK THE SORCERER. A substantial reddish fawn dog with plenty of bone. He has a strong head with a good drop of lip and a powerful neck going into a strong body. He gave his handler a little bit of a hard time as he was so bouncy and pleased with himself while the rest of us were sweltering in the heat.
SPECIAL OPEN BRINDLE DOG.(3/0)
1--Gifford's HIGHESTEEM LOCHSONG AT DANETIME.This was my previous winner from the postgraduate dog class. The same remarks apply as an elegant powerful dog that gives an impression of power without any coarseness and stood and moved well. Well handled.
2--Lawson and Hunter's DROOLAKISS MANSON. This was my 3rd place in Postgraduate dog. The same remarks apply as he is a really good golden brindle colour who also gives that impression of power and elegance without any coarseness. Well handled.
3--Flanagan's DAINMAJIK THE ENCHANTER FOR SOUPURY. A golden brindle dog with a strong head and dark eye giving him the kindest of expressions. A masculine dog well off for bone and he was fixated on his owner. Lovely to see how much he adored her.
SPECIAL OPEN DOG(2/2)
.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH(5/0)
1--Chappell's SELMALDA ANGEL OF HARLEM. A stunning 7 month old brindle minor puppy. Feminine head with dark eyes good ear carriage and correct length of muzzle. Her arched neck flows into a beautiful front assembly with correct lay of shoulder and depth of chest and a mature forechest for a puppy of this age.A flowing topline and deep brisket and good spring of rib with a correct tailset. Her bone is nice and straight with correct pasterns and tight feet. Well muscled thigh's. She moved well with her handler. I would love to take this one home.
2--Dyson's SELMALDA MYSTERIOUS WAYS WITH SAMDICE. a 7 month old fawn puppy bitch. Litter sister to my first place but heavier in bone and therefore not as mature. A lovely feminine head on this girl with a black mask and good eye's and ear's give her a very kind expression. Good bone, correct pastern's and tight feet. A good front assembly but not as mature as her sister yet. Lovely topline and well muscled rear thigh's for one so young. Very nice to go over. Well handled.
3--Thurlby's JUSTINIAN MAGICAL DREAM. A lighter fawn girl with plenty of bone. Lovely head on this 7 month old puppy with good eye's and ear carriage. Strong but feminine head whose neck flows into a very good body for her age. However as heavier in bone she is not as mature in front as the first two but she has an excellent rear end which she used to her advantage on the move. Her construction is there she just needs more time. Well handled.
PUPPY BITCH(6/2)
1--Wright's LEIRUMDANE ANNIE OAKLEY. A very pretty feminine Harlequin puppy who is 11 months old today. Feminine head with brown eyes and good ear carriage. A well marked puppy with a solid white background and big black patches. Her neck is clean and flows into a well constructed front assembly and good lay of shoulder and a good topline. She is well off for bone and has correct bone, tight pastern's and good feet. Her rear end is really well developed for a puppy with well muscled thigh's which she used to her full advantage on the move. I note with interest that she is the daughter of my Veteran dog class winner and she will be one to watch.
2--Pepper's LEAMAP BLACK CAVIAR AT SARAWEN. A 10 month old black puppy bitch who is the litter sister of my RBD. Similar remarks apply. She has a strong feminine head with dark eyes and good ear carriage giving her a kind expression. A powerful neck flows into a strong short-coupled body with a good amount of bone. She is well developed for her age with a strong rear end which she used effectively on the move and just needs more time to mature. Unlucky to meet the first place puppy.
3--Chappell's SELMALDA THE KISS. An 11 month old fawn puppy with a black mask. A half sister to my first two in minor puppy and built along similar lines.Lovely feminine head on her with dark eyes, good length of foreface and correct ear carriage. Really good forechest with correct lay of shoulder and well developed for her age.Good bone and tight feet and moved well for her age.
JUNIOR BITCH(9/6)
1--Pearson's CISMERALDA VON TIR NA NOGH AT DANEWORTH. A well bodied Harlequin girl with a strong but feminine head and dark brown eyes with good ear carriage giving her a melting expression. A strong powerful clean neck flows into a strong forechest with a good lay of shoulder and a strong but feminine body with a good spring of rib, very good topline and powerful rear end with a good tailset. The bone is nice and straight with correct pasterns and tight cat like feet and she has a pure white background with big black patches. When she moves she has a springy lithe action and is destined for top honours. A real daddy's girl.
2--Middleton's DINAHTRON LADY LUCK FROM DORNOIR. A well bodied Blue girl with a strong but feminine head with very good ear set which she used effectively. Very clean Blue with a lovely crested neck which flows into a strong well developed front assembly with a good lay of shoulder with correct depth and breadth of forechest. Well bodied with straight bone, correct pasterns and tight cat like feet. Strong rear end and good angulation which she used effectively on the move.
3-- Woodfine's LADY KEEVA AT JILDADANES. A taller more elegant Black Dane than the first two. She has a very feminine head with dark eyes giving her a soft expression. Very good shoulders on this girl and a good rear end with straight bone. Longer cast than the first two but a firm topline. On the day she just felt the heat a bit more.
MAIDEN BITCH(5/1)
1--Price's LEAMAP IRON MAIDEN. Yet another puppy from this litter. This time it is a 10 month old blue bitch puppy and she is very similar to her litter mates. A strong feminine head with good eyes and correct ear carriage. Powerful neck and short coupled body which is well developed for her age. Strong bone tight cat like feet with a powerful rear end which she used effectively. She still needs to mature on but everything is there to mature on correctly.
2--Battersby and William's INTERNOS COSI FAN TUTTE. A mature Black bitch of very elegant clean lines with absolutely no exaggerations what so ever. Lovely head with a dark eye and good angulation front and rear. Well muscled thighs with a correct tailset and when she moved she flowed but not with the enthusiasm of the first place winner. Her owner informed me that she has never show her before. I hope that this changes as she is good enough to do well.
3--Wrights LEIRUMDANE ANNIE OAKLEY. This was my puppy bitch winner and the same remarks apply.Lovely clean outlines and well balanced and she is maturing into a nice bitch. However in this class she did not move with any enthusiasm and this cost her placings.
NOVICE BITCH(4/3)
1--Wrights LEIRUMDANE KATIE ELDER. A litter sister to my puppy bitch winner and similar remarks apply. She is 11 months old today and has harlequin markings. A lovely feminine head with brown eyes and good ear carriage to give her head a lovely expression. A clean neck flows into a good front assembly with correct lay of shoulder and she has a well developed body for her age. Good bone and very good rear angulation with a strong rear end which she used effectively. When she matures she will be a very well balanced Dane and she is deceptive for the amount of bone that she has. Also a daughter of my Veteran dog winner.
POSTGRADUATE BITCH.(4/1)
1--Hydes HIGHESTEEM LOVE AFFAIR WITH DORNEYWOOD. A mature fawn bitch with a black mask with a strong but feminine head. Her clean arched neck flows into a well developed front assembly and she has a powerful but feminine body.Straight bone ,level hocks and tight cat like feet. Good topline and powerful rear end which she used on the move. Well handled.
2--Lawson and Hunters DROOLAKISS KERFUFFLE. A gorgeous golden brindle girl who is very well developed and mature for her age. Strong but feminine head with a dark eye giving her a pleasing expression and a clean neck which flows into a good front assembly.Well developed body for her age which gives her that look of substance combined with an elegant feminine air.Straight bone well angulated at the rear but I just preferred the drive and power of my first place winner. Well handled.
3-- Robinson and Stones DANISHA TROPICAL BREEZE. If you want to see classical markings on a Harlequin great dane have a good look at this girl. She is stunning. Strong but feminine head with a clean neck into a well developed powerful but feminine body. She is well angulated with straight bone correct pasterns and tight feet. On the day she just would not move properly as she really felt the heat but on another day this could change.
LIMIT BITCH(1/0)
1--Dyson's SAMDICE WRITTEN IN THE STARS. She stood alone but this did not in anyway detract from her overall qualities.A fawn dane with a black mask with an elegant but feminine head. Lovely eyes and good ear carriage giving her the typically quizzical expression and a good length of foreface which gives them that aristocratic look. Her neck is well arched and flows into a correct and mature front assembly with correct lay of shoulder and upper arm. Good bone ,correct pasterns and tight feet. She has an equally powerful rear end with a correct croup and tailset which she used to her advantage as she moved. I would prefer more of her but she is well constructed, well balanced and in proportion. She is a very nice honest bitch with no exaggerations and I was pleased to award her BB and BIS. Well deserved.
SPECIAL VETERAN BITCH (4/2)
Always my favourite class at a breed show. I just wish that there 1st place rosettes for all of them.Always a credit to their owners.
1-- Ritchen's DAINWOOD STORM LILY TO BRANELLA. A 6 year old fawn bitch with a black mask. Lovely head with correct ear carriage, good eye, depth of muzzle. Strong and still feminine.Plenty of bone and substance. Her neck flows into a really correct front assembly with good lay of shoulder, depth of chest and deep brisket. Equally powerful rear end with good croup and tailset. Beautifully proportioned bitch who should have had tickets.Well handled.
2--Flanagan's DIAMONDANES FABIA FOR SOUPURY. A 6 year old fawn bitch with a black mask. Taller girl than my 1st place and also a good head with correct ear carriage and correct eye. She is a well bodied girl with good angulation which she used on the move. Unlucky to meet the first place. A credit to her owner and well handled.
SPECIAL OPEN HARLEQUIN BITCH(4/1)
1--Pocock's TAMZDANE JAMAICAN ME CRAZY. A well marked Harlequin dane with a stong but feminine head. Good brown eyes, correct ear carriage and depth and length of muzzle. Her neck flows into a good front assembly with a very good forechest. Purest of white backgrounds shows her markings and make and shape off to perfection. Good rear angulation which she uses well. When she moves she floats around the ring. Always shown off to perfection by her young handler. Well deserved RBB and RBIS.
2--Tempest's ABBAIO ELEGANZA FOR ADOREADANE. A 7 month old Harlequin puppy bitch who got 4th in minor puppy bitch. She was unlucky to meet such mature puppies. This is no detraction from her as she is a slower maturing type. Lovely markings with the cleanest of white backgrounds. Feminine head with brown eyes a clean neck flowing into a good front assembly which still needs to mature and deepen but everything is there for it to do so. Good topline with very good rear angulation. She still needs to mature both front and back but she is very well put together and she will do very well as she matures.
3--Kirby and Jacques JACQUKIR BEAU. An older more mature bitch with a feminine head and wall eyes. Good outline but not as pure white background as the first two. She seemed to feel the heat and I just preferred the rear movement of the first two.
SPECIAL OPEN MANTLE BITCH.(0/0)
SPECIAL OPEN BLUE BITCH.(3/1)
1--Prices LEAMAP IRON MAIDEN. A 10 month old Blue bitch who was my previous winner from Maiden bitch. The same remarks apply she is a very promising puppy who still needs to mature on but she is very well developed for her age and she really extended and powered around the ring.
2--Middleton's DINAHTRON LADY LUCK FROM DORNOIR. I gave this dane 2nd in Junior and the same remarks apply. Really good make and shape with correct construction front and rear. In the Junior class she moved really well but in this class she seemed to feel the heat a bit more and was more restricted in her front movement.
SPECIAL OPEN BLACK BITCH.(5/3)
1--Pepper's LEAMAP BLACK CAVIAR AT SARAWEN. This was my 2nd place in the puppy bitch class and is very well developed for her age. She extended and drove from the rear and really covered the ground with her owner.
2--Bate's DANEMOOR BLACK SWAN. An elegant dane pleasing to the eye. Feminine head with good ear carriage and dark eye giving a kind expression. Lovely clean neck that flows into a good front assembly with a good topline. She is well angulated and has good pasterns and tight cat like feet but I just preferred the rear movement of my first place winner on the day.
SPECIAL OPEN FAWN BITCH(2/1)
1--Ingram's DAINMAJIK THE SORCERESS. A very strong reddish fawn bitch with a black mask. A strong head on this dane with a short powerful neck going into an extremely well bodied girl. She is short coupled and has very good tight feet. She is the litter sister to the winner of the special open fawn dog class and also bounced all over the ring being extremely pleased with herself. The rest of us just suffered in the heat.
SPECIAL OPEN BRINDLE BITCH(1/0)
1-- Lawson and Hunter's DROOLAKISS KERFUFFLE. This was my 2nd place in postgraduate bitch and the same remarks apply. Beautiful golden brindle colour with plenty of bone and substance and she moved well with her owner.
OPEN BITCH(2/2)
